About Conestoga Girls Ice Hockey

TEAMWORK. FUN. EXERCISE. ALL LEVELS WELCOME.

MISSION & CULTURE:

The Conestoga Girls Ice Hockey Club is a varsity sport that is comprised of players in Grades 8 -12.

The mission of our team is to enable girls to develop in and through the sport of ice hockey. We have a team culture of encouraging one another to improve and of competing for one another.

Our team is a mix of experienced players and developing players. A key part of our makeup is welcoming new skaters each year, teaching them to skate and play hockey, and coaching them to play in a competitive league.

We balance the importance of competing to win with our priorities of developing players and encouraging newer players to contribute.

HISTORY:

In 2004, Paula Jorgensen, with the support of the TE School District and the generosity of Ice Line, started girls hockey with the sole intent of introducing the sport of ice hockey to the women at Conestoga regardless of if they knew how to skate or not.  The sport teaches the players not just how to skate, but how to fall and get back up!

"I joined the team not even being able to stand up on a pair of skates, but now I've found not only a sport I love, but also some of my closest friends!" - Joely '2023
